BraveCort Brew Fest 2015

Award-winning craft beer, beer stein holding competition, tasty food,

live music and fun!

Fans near and far joined us for an evening of local, award-winning craft beer, a beer stein holding competition, tasty food, live music and fun! The BraveCort Brew Fest took over the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival Wine & Beer Garden for an event packed evening benefiting pediatric brain cancer research in San Diego.

This second annual Brew Fest and Masskrugstemmen took place October 10, 2015 and showcased 15-20 carefully selected craft breweries from Southern California. The highlight of this evening outdoor brew fest was BraveCort’s Masskrugstemmen, a traditional Bavarian beer stein-holding contest. Individuals competed against each other, testing strength and endurance while holding a 1-liter stein of beer in one hand.

BraveCort Russian Imperial Stout Debut Head Brewer of URBN St. Brewing Co., Callaway Ryan (formerly of Stone Brewing Co.), partnered for the second year with BraveCort Foundation Founders, Brian Kelley and Andrea Dahlberg, to produce a special BraveCort Brew. Honoring Brian and Andrea’s son Cort who passed from a rare form of brain cancer, URBN St. made a special inaugural brew for the Brew Fest in 2014, BraveCort Irish Dry Stout. Brewed in traditional Irish fashion celebrating the family’s heritage it’s a drinkable 4.8 % abv. with notes of chocolate and roast up front, bittersweet and slightly nutty mid-palate and a dry finish, this beer is a must try. For the 2015 BraveCort Brew Fest, URBN St. produced a second celebratory brew, a Russian Imperial Stout with 11% abv.

The BraveCort Foundation in partnership with Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure donated all proceeds to pediatric brain cancer research within the San Diego region.
